Visiting Santa

We have a tradition where the kids get to wear their Christmas clothes and we get pictures with Santa (this years picture is my header). Then after we see Santa we go and drop off our gifts for the Salvation Army's Christmas Angels. Yesterday we finally got a chance to take the kids to see Santa. We decided that this year we would take them to the Bass Pro Shop. It was nice because we didn't have to stand in line for hours. They gave us a Bass Pass and we were told to come back and get in line at a certain time, so the longest we should have had to be in line was 30 minutes. They had all kinds of activities for the kids to play while we waited. They made Candy Cane Reindeer, was able to shoot animal pictures with a laser gun, shot cross bows, wrote a letter to Santa and colored pictures. Santa was really a great guy the best I have seen in a long time. Damien asked for a Wii for the whole family. Santa had told him that he wasn't sure he could bring it "because lots of kids were asking for them. The electronics department has been acting up and the elves moral was really low." He made sure to tell the kids that he wasn't going to make any promises and didn't want them to be sad if they didn't get it. Damien told him he wouldn't be sad because he is earning the money and already has $70 saved. He just wanted to ask so he could get it sooner if Santa felt he could bring it. They were having some technical troubles with the picture printer. So while they fixed it Santa invited the kids to come and sit down while he read "T'was the Night Before Christmas." He also sang Christmas songs with the kids. It was really great.

One great thing about the whole day was that finally Kylie wasn't scared of Santa.

Usually she cries but this year she was really excited to see Santa.

All in all the kids had a great time and I got some Christmas shopping done while Dennis was helping Kaytlinn and Kylie wrote their letters to Santa.
